Sometimes you pour hours into zines and post them months and months later. This is one of those situations.
First, here are zines we have formatted. These have been available in our zine folder for some time but were never announced:
Reflecting On Liberation Theology and Intersectionality by Hein Htet Kyaw – Written by an anarchist in Burma, this text covers Liberation Theology, and how leftists see it as a method of being able to organize people without critically engaging with the shortfalls of religions, and areas that Islam and Buddhism (the most present religions in Burma) fall short of fighting for liberation for all. [PRINT]
Seattle Is Never Coming Back: Reflections On The DNC by the Lake Effect Collective – Written by a crew based in so-called Chicago, lakeeffect.noblogs.org, this zine is about the protests against the 2024 Democratic National Convention, examining how they were organized, and how they were policed, controlled, and maintained internally and externally. It also offers some possibilities for those seeking to avoid the pitfalls this and many other protests and actions fall into. [PRINT]
Pissed Off Projectionists: Bringing The Class War To A Theater Near You by the Class Against Class Collective – Initially published in 2003 in The Northeastern Anarchist, a magazine put out by the defunct North East Federation of Anarchist Communists (which would eventually form Black Rose/Rosa Negra Anarchist Federation farther down the line.) It goes over anarchist involvement in a union struggle at the Somerville Theatre. This is local history, and a concrete example of anarchists engaging in union organizing (yet not abandoning militancy or direct action.) [PRINT]
Parallel Struggles: Kashmir and Palestine by Marwa – This text was written by Marwa, a radical in Kashmir, that provides history, as well as information from the present day situation in Kashmir, while noting the similarities between the Kashmiri and Palestinian struggles for self determination. We publish it to share a struggle often overlooked by the international community, as well as many radicals. No struggle in any corner of the world can stand alone. Anarchists and other radicals should endeavor to build knowledge of (and connections to) struggles across the world, working to build a broad spanning, internationalist, anti-imperialism. Free Kashmir, Free Palestine, and towards an end to every empire and imperialist power! [PRINT]
Revolt & Representation: A View From The Battle For Los Angeles by Mapaches Clandestinxs w/ Cuauhtli – We formatted a text that came out in Heatwave Magazine (heatwavemag.info) because we thought it was an excellent account of how rage against ICE was manifesting around LA. Unsurprisingly, so too did Heatwave, who promptly formatted their own version of the zine that is better than ours before we had a chance to release it. Can’t win ’em all. But you can pick your favorite, and ours is black and white if that means anything to you. [DISTRO FORMAT] [HEATWAVE FORMAT]
We are working on formatting further zines in the very near future, so keep an eye out for more posts and updates to the library.
We have also made additions to the library that have not been formatted by us. The following areas might be particularly of interest to you:
We have a folder with zines from the recent and current anti-ICE struggle, with many accounts of how people take action to stop ICE, from patrols to street militancy. You can find it under the Contemporary “US & Canada” folder.
We also have some zines from the current cases being brought against Anti-ICE protesters and their loved ones, known as the Prairieland defendants, as well as about the specific case of Des Revol, who was picked up for transporting “antifa materials” (anarchist zines.) These can be found under the Contemporary “US & Canada” folder as well.
Quite a few zines have also been added to our Spanish language folder, thanks largely to zines formatted by La Peste (lapeste.org/), a group of anarchists in Chile. As a result there are now sub-folders in the Spanish language folder for Theory, History, and Action, although not all zines neatly fit into these and are in the parent folder (as occurs in other topic folders.)
Do you know a zine that you’d like to see added? Email it to us at mbtadistro [at] protonmail dot com
Have you formatted a zine? Email it to us as a submission, ideally using a one off protonmail, with some information about it to use for the post. If we fuck with it, we will post it.
